Aiming for a third consecutive victory when lining up for The Roses this weekend, trainer David Vandyke has accepted a position in the final field for talented stayer Arabian Gold.

Claiming an impressive total of seven wins and two places from just 16 competitive appearances to date, Arabian Gold was a standout performer over her 2013 preparation; claiming three consecutive victories first-up before finishing second to Guelph in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) on September 28th and claiming the Listed Ethereal Stakes (2000m) most notably.

Running to claim fifth amongst classy company in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) first-up this year, the Dubawi filly was unlucky when hampered early in both the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) and Group 3 Keith F Nolan Classic (1600m), but arguably returned to career best form when comfortably claiming both the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) and Group 3 Frank Packer Plate (2000m) most recently.

Allocated the ideal inside barrier, jockey Blake Shinn has been confirmed to return to the saddle of Arabian Gold this weekend.

Interestingly, just three other runners confirmed will carry winning form into the 2014 Roses; Tinto, Cruz By and Rosey Joan.

Poking a nose clear to win the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) last time out on May 3rd, Tinto has steadily built to the task at hand this season but will have to overcome the awkward barrier 13 if to continue her good run of form this weekend.

Returning to the track in arguably career best form this time in, Cruz By has claimed three good wins from just four starts, including the Wealth Directors Plate (1800m) on the Sunshine Coast last time out.

Also aiming for a third consecutive victory when lining up for the Doomben Roses this weekend, Rosey Joan is yet to contest an event at Group level, but is offered good chance of debut success in drawing barrier 2.

Also confirmed in the final field for the 2014 The Roses is classy Kiwi import Hera.

A standout performer in her native New Zealand, Hera has contested an impressive record of five wins and four places from just 12 competitive starts to date, producing many impressive performances under the care of leading trainer Roger James before transferring to Kris Lees’ stable in February.

A mainstay in major events over the 2013 spring, the O’reilly filly was unlucky to finish second to Australian Oaks champion Rising Romance in the Listed Trevor Eagle Memorial Open (1500m) on November 30th, however strolled home to claim the Group 2 Eight Carat Classic (1600m) on December 26th.

Once again comfortably finishing in the clear of the Group 2 Sir Tristram Fillies Classic (2000m), Hera’s chances in the 2014 Roses took a huge boost on Wednesday when allocated the ideal barrier 4, and confirmed to be partnered by veteran jockey Jim Cassidy.

Securing three impressive results in her most recent performances, Ekofanidea has been confirmed as the only emergency runner for The Roses.
