Morning Lass remains a slight $4.60 favourite in 2016 The Roses betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of clear market mover Ambience ($4.80) and the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Falkenberg ($5).

Will Morning Lass justify favouritism and win the 2016 The Roses, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Falkenberg ($5)

Falkenberg appears as though she will be a very strong Queensland Oaks contender and represents terrific value for money in 2016 The Roses betting markets at $5 to win. Resuming this time for success in the Hawkesbury Equine Vet Maiden (1400m) on February 25th, the More Than Ready filly ran a close second in the All Too Hard BM77 (1600m) on March 9th before returning to winning form in the Schweppes BM67 (1600m) on March 28th. Having since finished fourth in each of the Schweppes BM78 (1500m) and Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m), Falkenberg will leave from the ideal barrier 6 in The Roses and will be partnered by leading local hoop Damian Browne.

2nd

Ambience ($4.80)

Godolphin filly Ambience is more than up to the class of The Roses and is a leading chance of a first three finish, particularly from barrier 4 with James McDonald aboard. Capping a standout 2015 campaign third in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m), Ambience returned this time for eighth in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) and relished a step up in distance when savaging the line for fifth in the Group 3 Arrowfield Classic (1600m). While failing to fire in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) on March 26th, the Street Cry filly placed second in the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) last time out.

3rd

Kebede ($21)

Kebede has proven she is more than up to the class of her rivals along the tradition Queensland Oaks path so-far and will carry benefit into The Roses on Saturday. Winning each of her first three starts upon resuming this time, the daughter of Redoute’s Choice filly ran fourth in the Listed Princess Stakes (1600m) on the Sunshine Coast on April 23rd before placing third in the Gold Coast Bracelet last time out. Drawn well in barrier 9, Kebede will be partnered by regular hoop Jim Byrne and represents terrific value at double figure The Roses odds.
